Hi there,

where is a good place for a Visual artist to rent a studio in Fort Collins with a possible foot traffic?

Are there any Artist's CooP's?

Thanks a million!

You would probably have to look into Old Town, but I imagine the rents would be high. That's the only place where people really walk around and hang out, other than the remodeled mall (where the young hang out, and few seem interested in art). That would be nice if there was an artist co-op, but I've never heard of one. Since this is still an ag (agriculture) roots town, there is a food co-op though. FC isn't artsy in my opinion, though it might slowly be improving. Natives might see it being artsy now, but if you come from a real arts town, you might chuckle a bit at that. It's all in the perspective...

You might be interested in the Downtown Artery. They have studio space and a cooperative attitude. There is studio space for visual artists, a sound studio, cafe, and short term rooms for rent. They also participate in the monthly First Friday art walk in Old Town.

If you have your own work space, but want a place to sell your work, the Trimble Court Artisans Co-op would be a good place. The various artist help to staff the store and it has good walking traffic. They also participate in the monthly downtown gallery walk.

The first Friday of every month, several galleries downtown host a gallery and art walk. It is a lot of fun and well attended year round.

There are some other galleries and display spaces in the area, as well.

Each year, there is an artist studio tour and sale in the spring. Here is the info from last spring's tour.

Perhaps contacting anyone associated with one of the above could connect you with space for rent. There is a property owner on Douglas Road, north of town, who built a building with 4-6 artists studios for rent, but I don't have contact info.

You might also look into studio space in Loveland. Loveland is know as an art town, but more specifically for sculpture. There may be studio opportunities there.

Best of luck!
