Hello,

I have a few questions about commuting between Fort Collins and Boulder:

(1) Is it likely that this commute will exceed one hour?
(2) Does the commuting time largely depend on where I live in Fort Collins?
(3) Which areas in Fort Collins should I consider to reduce my traveling time to Boulder?
(3) Is public transportation (train, bus) available for this commute? If so, is it reliable?

Thank you for your time!

from mapquest.com

Fort Collins, CO US
to

Boulder, CO US

Total Est. Time: 59 minutes
Total Est. Distance: 54.99 miles

Now why would you want to put yourself thru that twice a day 5x a week?

Thanks for the prompt reply!

I agree that the commute between Fort Collins and Boulder is not appealing. My husband has a job in Fort Collins and the position requires that he is a local resident. Most of my employment prospects are in the Boulder area. It appears that a commute is likely, and I would like to know if living in a particular part of Fort Collins could reduce my commuting time.

I would guess as close to the southern/western city boundry as possible or get as close to the highway as possible...

I am curious what job opportunities exist in the republic of boulder that don't in FC, Greeley (even Thornton is closer to FC)?

stay southwest or south east (and catch I-25 SB... busy) there are ways to cut behind Loveland and Berthoud and catch 287, then jog west to bypass Longmont. It will be a long hour, but most Boulder employment is north or east (of course that depends...on what your doing)

Maybe get a 'nightshift job' if you have to commute. Evening shift is great, except it is social suicide. But If you get lunch breaks paid, + a 10% premium and save an hr / day commuting, and get a 4 day workweek Worked for me for 28 of my 32 yrs (big bucks, ez work, no bosses, no phone calls-except dealing with Asia, piece-o'-cake)

To my knowledge, there is no bus service between Boulder and Fort Collins

Plenty of small towns inbetween! Boulder is fabulous but so is Ft. Collins with less attitude!

Agree.
I did used to take a public bus between the two cities (it was a lo-ong ride.)
That stretch of highway actually used to be pretty boring, but it is now so overused it is downright dangerous IMHO.

There are some very nice neighborhoods in south Ft. Collins that would allow you to get to Boulder in due time. I live in north Loveland, and can reach Boulder in less than 45 minutes. I take Taft south, then get on the Berthoud by-pass to catch Hwy 287 to Longmont. Take Hwy 66 west to Hover Rd, then go south on Hover Rd which will run into the Diagonal (Hwy 119) that takes you to Boulder.

Unless you are living near the interstate east of Fort Collins, going to I25 may take way too much time. Probably will depend on where your business takes you in Boulder.

What bus did you take to commute between Fort Collins and Boulder? Does anyone know the answer to this? I can't find it anywhere-I'm a student at CSU and I need to get to Boulder to visit CU and I don't know how to get there! Thanks for any help you can give!
