Thank you!
of the small towns nearby, Berthoud is best. If you need 'a little' more 'life', consider Loveland, just west of Downtown to Colorado Ave. (or on west near OLD hospital... Douglas Ave and w 8th)

If you need ACTION, then Ft Collins.

Longmont is too close to Boulder or Denver to have a strong community.

You can also find REALLY nice communities in Eastern Colorado and Nebraska. (But then they are NOT the "Garden spot of Colorado. as is Berthound". For kids... life might be a bit SLOW... but that is not always bad (tho CAN BE if parenets let it become an issue.) If you have kids and they don't like Berthoud... Send them to Dairy Farm Boarding School, that experience offers a GREAT attitude adjustment.

Default Take on Berthoud

My husband and I are interested in relocating to the area from Omaha and are interested in the little farming community of Berthoud. We like the location equal distance from Fort Collins and Boulder and have read all of the Chamber of Commerce sales pitch on the community. We would appreciate any input on how real estate values and resale compare to Loveland/Longmont(we know we can't make comparisons to FC and Boulder), crime, jobs, healthcare, etc. All pros and cons to living in this community. Thanks!

Any updates to this post for Berthoud? Relocating from Texas to this area in June and would like info. I'm familiar with Berthoud as my brother raised his family there. Now my niece has her own family and my nephew built his own house close by. I have a 9yr old. Need info on schools. Not just for Berthoud. It appears the curriculum is different as I've read on the boards.

Default Berthoud growing

(-)Berthoud is about to go through 2 major housing expansions. The town infrastructure s not ready for +250 new homes on the Northside of town and +100 in a smaller development on the south side. If you have kids expect in 3-4 years overcrowding in the schools. The town had to increase water rates rather dramatically expect >$100 -150 if you have a family of long hot shower takers. The town recently fired its police department ... recently hired a replacement staff.
(+) The local food is good the people are friendly. The houses are reasonable priced although the lots are very small. No murders, rapes, very little crime.

Summary; good place to live the last 10 years... Camelot is ending
