Default Is Fort Collins, Co. a windy city?

We're considering relocating from Mpls. MN. to Ft. Collins and weather is a very important factor in our decision. I'm not a fond one of wind and everytime we've visited Ft. Collins there has been ALOT of wind. Is it like that all year long or were those unusual days? We really like everything about Ft. Collins but the wind could seriously make or break our decision.
Thank you for your time!

I couldn't find any wind speed data for Fort Collins, but it averages 8-10 mph year-round in Denver.

Wait - found some data for Fort Collins. Average daily wind speed is approx. 7mph. A gentle, rolling breeze.

I lived in Fort Collins for 10 years and it is windy at times, just as it is anywhere on the open plains. It's worse up around Cheyenne. It may average 7 mpg but you'll have days, especially in the spring, where it'll be bad and even cause some damage. They'll occassionally have wind advisory warnings for trucks traveling in the area. One day a gust yanked a car door out of my hand and flung the hinge so far open that it damaged with front corner panel.

Of course, you'll have days where it's as still as can be.

I found it here:

http://www.wrcc.dri.edu/htmlfiles/westwind.final.html

It may also be in the National Weather Service's site somewhere, too.

Is Fort Collins windy? Is the Pope Catholic? Does a bear .... (nevermind, you get the picture). But if it's any consolation, it's no windier then most other Colorado locales (and certainly seems to be less windy then most of Wyoming).

HAHA on that story with the door. Gotta love that soothing spring breeze tearing something out of your hand and slamming it against something else. It's always nice to be walking at a 65 degree angle through the wind.
