Default Can Someone Recommend A Good Bank?

Can anyone recommend a good bank in the Fort Collins area?

I'm currently with TCF Bank -- but their overdraw fees are ridiculous ($33)... and they are very unforgiving when it comes to them!

I like AB&T (Adams Bank & Trust) they are on the south side of town on 287. Great service. They even get to know your name. Never had to wait in line EVER! By far the best bank I have ever used.

I used First National Bank when I lived in Fort Collins. They were reasonable.

On a side note, and not to sound too rude, but if you are upset about overdraft fees, then perhaps you need to learn to manage your checking account better. Other banks are still going to charge you for it, and with today's economy, many need every penny they can get.

First National charges $32 for cashing a check on an overdrawn account so they're not much better.

I wish the US would have the British system where, if you know you're going to have some financial issues, you can contact the bank and ask them to approve an overdraft amount. They usually look at your account, make sure the amount isn't excessive and that you can you pay it off and then tell you, "Yes, you can go overdrawn up to X-amount but if you go over that we will charge you for each check you write." It's a very useful arrangement and surprisingly doesn't get abused much.

I am a huge fan of Norbel Credit Union. Very friendly staff and a small town feel. They know my name and great me when I walk through the door. They are located off of Swallow and Lemay. I would also suggest applying for the overdraft protection. I have it on my checking account and pay it down every month if I use it. That way it only costs me less than $1.00 compared to 33.00.
