Colorado State University in Fort Collins has always had one of the nation's top programs in Forestry. You really can't go wrong there.

Check out Prescott College in Prescott, AZ. My friend just graduated this past summer with a custom degree in Forestry and Wildlife Management and already has a job with the USFS in Colorado.

Then there are Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA and Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO which have very intensive nature-focused programs.
