I am considering relocating to Fort Collins.
Looking for an apartment starting first part of June. (1 bedroom)
-
Currently I do not own a car, and prefer a central place that is walking friendly. Looking for a part of Fort Collins that I can bike from easily.
-
Do any of you go without a car in Fort Collins?
How pedestrian friendly is Fort Collins?
Which neighborhood in Fort Collins is most pedestrian friendly?
I greatly appreciate it.
Thank you for your help.

Fort Collins is a very bike friendly town (Bicycling home page: City of Fort Collins), and has a good bus system (Transfort: City of Fort Collins). It would not be unreasonable to live here without a car. Not everything is within walking distance, but there are several areas in which you could live and be able to access basic needs. There are sidewalks in good repair in most of the city. While more expensive than other areas, the Old Town area of Fort Collins comes to mind as a pedestrian friendly place to live. The city library is close, as is a grocery store, hardware store and many dining and entertainment options. The area near the north-east corner of campus, and campus west also have many services within walking distance.

I will be staying with my sister there in Ft Collins while I relocate to CO. They already told me to bring my bike. There are off road bike paths as well, and I've been told to expect a bike ride to the New Belgium Brewery every Friday afternoon. Good luck, Fort Collins is a nice town.
