Question Crime in Ft.Collins ???

I live in New Jersey and i am thinking about relocating to The Fort Collins area, I have been vacationing there for about 10 years and think it would be a great place to live. I Love the outdoors,Hunting, fishing, hiking, mountain biking etc... I have a daughter that is 12 years old. The statistics indicate a higher than average crime rate. Do you think this would be a good area for a young family? Which are the best public schools? Are there any areas or schools that i should avoid? Any info. would be helpfull , Thank You.

i find it hard to believe that ft collins is higher than average i have lived in the area my whole life and the only town i would worry about is greeley- ft collins is a college town which may account for some of the crime (they like to get drunk in old town alot) but its actually very quiet there- loveland is a little better though
