Hi my family and I are looking to relocate. My husband is working in Cheyenne Wyoming. We are looking at the town of Eaton, Colorado. Any info people have would be great. We have 3 kids 16, 14, and 11.

Hi Amy,
The town of Eaton is a small farming community that also serves as a bedroom community for Greeley and, in some cases, Fort Collins.

The drive from Eaton to Cheyenne is relatively easy in good weather, but with the wind, the road becomes difficult in snow and bad weather. Also, the speed limit drops in the several other small farm communities along Highway 85.

There was quite a bit of development in the late '90s and early '00s, so you have quite a bit of newer housing on the edges of town, with a core of older housing in the center of town. Services include schools, gas stations, some restaurants, and the basic necessities. For night life and activities, you will likely end up in Greeley.

Per their website, the population in the 2000 census was 2900 people, but it is likely larger now.

There is a country club on the north edge of town, and the Hawkstone master planned community nearby has a newer feel.

As a farming community, there will be the truck traffic during harvest, and the odors that accompany agriculture.

The kids may enjoy the small community, and knowing everyone, or they may alway want to be in Greeley or Fort Collins.

Is there specific information for which you are looking?

Have a great day,
MikeWeber
