Default Visiting Fort Collins/Loveland for a possible relocation. Can you recommend a hotel?

Hello,

My husband and I will be visiting Fort Collins next week. Where do you suggest we stay for the 4 days we will be there? Which hotel is central? I am looking into the Armstrong Hotel, but other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We are contemplating the idea of moving to the Fort Collins/Loveland area from Central Florida, which is starting to look like a 3rd world country, and that is why we are taking this trip. We are looking to start a family soon, and Central Florida is NOT where I would like my future children to grow up. Which area of town do you think is best to raise a family? I know the Northern part is to be avoided.

Thank you!

Hi,

Mu husband and I are also from central Florida and are going to Fort Collins on 19 August to look around. Would appreciate you letting me know how you get on. We are going to stay at one of the bed and breakfasts there. We thought this way we could talk to some locals about the area. Have you looked on their website the downtown area looks like a 'real' celebration.

Default anyone?

Hi diddy02,

I will let you know how the trip went. I am in contact with a real estate agent. We are planning to visit some houses while we are there.
Were are you in Central Florida?
I am in Orlando by UCF.
Will you be staying at the Edward's House? I made a reservation at the Armstrong Hotel.

Fort collins area residents: your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

diddy02,

Well, I just came back from Fort Collins/Loveland.
It is ABSOLUTELY beautiful, the views are totally breathtaking. The town is clean, peaceful, picture perfect.
Unlike you suggested, the downtown area looks nothing like Celebration but was very nice nonetheless.

We visited quite a few houses. What you get for your money there compared to here in Central Florida is amazing. We had a wonderful real estate agent who drove us around for 2 days, please let me know if you would like her contact information. I only have good things to say about her. She went above and beyond.

In the end we decided not to move to Fort Collins. Why?
To be honest the lack of diversity scared us quite a bit. We felt uncomfortable at times and got quite a few unwelcoming stares, enough to give us an uneasy feeling the whole time we were there. This raised serious concerns that made us think twice about moving there: are we going to be able to make friends, are people going to be willing to hire us, are our future children going to be teased at school, etc...
Fort Collins/Loveland offer everything we are looking for in a new town, but it is sad to say that we did not feel welcome.

If you are Caucasian or this type of thing does not bother you, then you will absolutely love it there. This is a GREAT place to raise children, very very safe with a lot of activities available everywhere.

Thanks for the reply. It is such a shame that you felt that way but you have to go with your 'gut' feeling on a place.
We are going next Saturday and I am really looking forward to it. There is only so much you can read up on the internet , you have to go and visit.
Wish me luck ..
