I live in Davie and have City of Sunrise for my water. I use about 7k gallons a month and my water bill is about 150.00 a month. I checked with the city and my bill only includes water and wastewater. My father lives in Plantation and his household uses about 10k gallons a month...his bill? 45.00. I understand that city's are different, but without another option for water I do not think it is fair.

Unfortunately, the city of Sunrise is known to gouge for water services (I'm pretty sure there have been some posts on this board about this). They apparently sell water to several cities in Broward County (apparently not to Plantation, which is surprising considering Plantation is right next door to Sunrise).

The high water bills were one of the many reasons we voted with our feet and moved out of state. Ten years ago in Margate our water bills were typically over $100/mo.

Our water bill in Hollywood is just over $100 a month for two people. I remember back in the 70s when it used to be around $30 every two months. Ah, the good old days...

It was high, but the thing I found criminal was that they taxed our Directv satellite dish, even though it involved no infrastructure and was not visible off the property. What Florida doesn't have in income tax gets made up in other ways.

I remember being furious one year when Lake O. was lowered just before dry season, and then there were cries of a water shortage and fines for excess use. I mean seriously, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that it was a scam or complete idiocy in power.

City of Plantation adds 4 lines into a total of 6 line items for a Water, Sewage invoice. For example, if you pay 10/water and 20/sewage, there will be an additional 40 added to the bill, or a total around 70/month. The extra 4 lines are for Bags, Recycle, Base charges for Water and Sewage.
