Question Farmers Markets in Broward?

Does anyone know if there are any in Broward? I am also looking for organic food stores or co-ops in this area, as well as any vegan or vegetarian restaurants.

thanx for the info,
Sabrina

Sublime restaurant in Fort Lauderdale is an excellent vegan restaurant. The only problem is that they never seem to be open . For organics, we have your typical overpriced Whole Foods Market (we need Trader Joes!), and Publix carries a limited selection of organics. As far as farmers markets, I sure cant find one! Farmstands open WAY out in Homestead (southwest of Miami) in the winter, where sometimes you can find good local produce.

Default sort of farmer's market...

There's _Stiles_ on Oakland Park Blvd., west of 95. I've never been there...but it claims to be a farmer's market....

Don't know where they would find "local growers". Zero percent of Broward land is agricultural, and they already have plenty of ways to take advantage of the Homestead produce down there. I do wish there was a place to buy fresh produce here, though!

This is a weekly delivery service or pick up for organics produce and general food. I found it to be very convenient and reliable, with prices competitive with whole foods and nice people to deal with. The convenience of finding your cooler full of produce on your doorstep is unpaid forawesome. Delicious Organics serves Miami Dade and Broward (unless they opened up further away lately). I like the fact that they would deliver alternative produce, if you agreed to, when they found something fresher than what you had ordered.

I know this post was done last year but, did you know there are 22 farms in Broward county? Who would have thought it, hunh?

link

says in 2002 Broward had 400 plus farms. Not sure how many still exist. Also says these farms get together to sell their goods, but being the usual mullet wrapper that Sun Sentinel is, they don't tell you where :S
