Why do people respond to threads that are over 1 year old?

Where the original poster lost me was when they started by saying "A police captain told me...."

Sorry but every police officer in America will tell you their city is bad. That is their job! They are naturally pessimistic because they see horrific things every day on their jobs.

Crime has not really increased much in 20 years. Yet I always hear people saying how much worse things are. Its all perception, not based on reality.

My family has reported gang activity in Wichita Kansas. Come on, get real it's every where and you avoid those areas. Having a shotgun for home protection isn't a bad idea either.
