Cats don't care for the smell of Pine Sol either. If possible, try gravel or chicken wire as they don't like to walk on areas that have a rough surface.

I hate cats... the illegal killing thing still sounds like a good option, but that's just my thoughts...

Now I did it... the SPCA is gonna knock on my door... great.

I successfully used moth balls on my front porch, went thru about 2 boxes, the cat stopped coming forever. They were very cheap at publix.

You resurrected a 3 1/2 year old thread just to say that?

Be careful with mothballs near places where water accumulates. I had something crapping in my pool (thought cat or raccoon) and did some research on mothballs, and cats can die if they drink water that the balls have been in, at least that's what I read. Could be wrong.

In any case, I did have the mothballs out before I read that and they do stink up the yard quite nicely.

No there is not much you can do besides try to put something like the other person said to make the area undesirable to them with plants or whatever.

We have a lot of outdoor cats where I live, many don't belong to anyone. They don't bother anyone in fact they do a service, they keep mice and rats away. I sometimes see their poo outside, but many of them bury it too, it's not a problem for me.

I had this same problem when I used to live Miami when some idiot neighbors used to feed cats and we literally had 30+ cats in our complex. We got cat trappers to remove them.
