We are a quiet mixed-race gay couple in our late 40's from Toronto looking to purchase a vacation property in Fort Lauderdale and want to spend about $100 - 150K cash for a renovated coop or condo. So far we have been concentrating on listings in Coral Ridge Towers East building, Breakwater Towers at Harbor Beach and Runaway Bay condo in the Harbordale area as these buildings meet our price criteria and are near the beach. We're not interested in Wilton Manors as we're not much into gay nightlife and we'd like to be in a highrise building closer to the beach. Our main interest is quality building in a safe, walkable neighborhood where we can access some shopping and restaurants without having to always drive as this is what we are used to in Toronto. We also want to be in an area and building where we feel comfortable as a gay couple even though we are not inclined to public displays of affection and do not particularly appear to be gay. However we wouldn't want to feel that we must hide that fact from neighbors, etc. We are a little familiar with the Coral Ridge area but not at all with Harbor Beach or Harbordale. Just looking for some advice (pro and con) of the different areas and buildings given our criteria. We are also aware of the age restriction at Coral Ridge but the agent we've been in contact with feels confident he can help us get into that particular building.
