I am looking to meet some of my Broward neighbors. I don't know too many folks around there and it seems if we are to make things better, we need to reach out to our neighbors. I enjoy posting, but also would like to meet some of you in a pub and chat over a drink.

I took a look at your profile. What you are suggesting isn't a bad idea but one that very few have been willing to see through. I guess you are in the tech field? I don't know if you are new to the area, but there are a number of user groups or technology exchange groups that meet monthly.

Example, we ran the Java Users Group for 8 years. The list goes on. It was a great place to meet like minded people. If you don't want to continue your workday into a tech evening, then there are many other networking groups around.

People are cautious and apprehensive about meeting other forum members or so it seems with good justification. I tried to get a group meet at Markham Park, which is safe - but no takers.

Good luck. Please feel free to PM me if you need additional info.

Most don't even fill in information on the profile page including me. By the way, the woman who was killed from I think Hollywood and had her baby stolen last year met the killer on a group much like this. I have enough friends in the real world, don't care to meet any new ones from cyberspace.

Default Alumni Associations

Also check with your school and see if there is a local college alumni Association, they usually meet at a sports bar and watch the games during each season.
