Are these generally good areas? Or which parts of them (if any) should I steer clear of?

I'm looking at purchasing a condo and there seem to be some good deals in these areas....which makes me wonder what's wrong with them, or if it's just an area with a lot of foreclosures.

I'm planning a trip to look at places in a few weeks, but any advice I can get in the meantime about where I should (or shouldn't) look would be appreciated. I don't need to be near the beach, just some place affordable and, being a single female, safe enough to walk my dog in the evenings.

AVOID Lauderhill and North Lauderdale like the plague. Also avoid Lauderdale Lakes, West/North portion of Fort Lauderdale, East Plantation, and Margate. Most of Sunrise is nice, but there are some bad areas too. Specifically, avoid the Sunset Strip area located east of University Drive.
