This is the united states, we speak english. We are a great nation that welcomes immigrants from nations across globe and provides the opportunity to make a living. Why should we have to be obligated to learn spanish? Nothing against the culture, and I would love to be fluent in many languages, but the proposition of having people learn spanish to make your life easier is unreasonable. Personally, if I had time, I would prefer to learn mandarin chinese than any other language. No disrespect.

So let me get this straight.

You want me to learn to speak another language, because you came to this country and you don't want to learn to speak the lauguage that the morjority of the population speaks because???

How about this, YOU LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH like the rest of the country. If I go to Columbia right now, and don't know how to speak spainish, the people who live in that country AREN'T going to bend over backwards to speak english. Same thing in Japan, France or India!

Only here in South Fla do we bend over to cater to the Latinos. and about the attitude, I'm sorry but IMO Latins have some of the worse in all of South Fla.

So yeah, there is not a reason you can give me to why Latins can't take one of the 10,000 free ESOL or English classes offered for them and learn the lauguage.

My .02 cents.

People are mean here because they are either rich and snobby, or not so rich and unhappy. Just plan to make a lot of money and have people envy you, or be respectful and live modestly. Bottom line, this is the united states, and this is our culture. You can either learn it and be a part of it, or refuse to assimilate and further isolate yourself.

When Italians came, they assimilated and learned English.

Why can't Latinos do the same?

Because we've become a liberal, "pc" nation that would rather bend over and take it where the sun don't shine rather then put our foot down and possibly "offend" someone.

The ACLU would have a field day if someone suggested (seriously) that latino's learn english.
