Don't forget Delray in South Palm Beach. Great downtown, beautiful and some what less crowded beaches. I would suggest something around Military Trail so it is affordable but still with 10 - 15 minutes to the Beaches/Downtown. Feel free to PM me if you have questions, I live in Delray but lived in Broward for several years as well... still have lots of clients in both counties.

I have seen you post on the Houston forum and apparently you live there ... got nothing better to do than this ?

I like Houston , but that city has many , many problems of its own as well .

Good Luck on your search. We are looking to move out of Ft Lauderdale, the cost of living is ridiculous and we are so unhappy here, we are ready to start a family elswhere.
Now I LOVE the diversity of people, cultures, food. but you can keep everything else!!

Good Luck, hope you find the right spot for you and your family.

Live as close to your job as possible. Miami is known for some of the worst drivers in the nation. I am not trying to be negative just telling the truth.

Deerfield is great and Boca is awesome, but the commute to Miami will be a nightmare. As nice as Palm Beach is, you don't want your Husband to live in traffic. Try Fort Lauderdale near Las Olas.

Not unless you can afford private schools would I recommend raising kids here. I'm not sure where you are moving from, but check out the local news channels, it's enough to make you want to home school!
I'm here for the sun, sand and surf. You can't beat the weather, that's for sure!

You may want to visit the Broward County School web site to see how well some schools are doing: Newcomers Link

Then you will want to see if any sex offenders live in the area you desire (really).
Broward Sheriff's Office - Sex Offender Locator (http://gisweb.sheriff.org/predator/ - broken link)

When you find an area you like, I would only consider renting first. We are having BIG problems regarding high taxes and insurance.

Personally, I would say Cooper City, western Davie, Weston, and parts of Pembroke Pines are desirable places. Not too much of a commute to Fort Lauderdale.

Good luck in your search.
