I am soon moving to either Fort Lauderdale or Hollywood. Just curious where the closest nice mall is that has your basic stores like Best Buy, Polo Ralph Lauren and things like that. Would I have head down to Miami? Thanks

South Florida is crawling with malls.

If you're in Fort Lauderdale, there's the Galleria and then various big box stores, including Best Buy, HH Gregg etc., within a mile or 2 of Galleria.

Sawgrass is a bit of a drive from Lauderdale, but has virtually every store you can want.

Funny how, even with all the malls throughout the region, I personally have become an online shopper cuz I like to avoid the weekend traffic and hassle

From Hollywood, the Aventura Mall and Pembroke Lakes Mall come to mind. Aventura is closer, but with the heavy traffic in and out of there, Pembroke might actually be faster. I'm pretty sure there is a large Best Buy near there too. I don't know about a Best Buy in Aventura, though there are many stand alone stores near that mall.

Have you not seen the traffic around Pembroke Lakes mall?!?! It's crazy on a weekend.

And yes, Best Buy is right across the street from the mall.

Hey theres a Best Buy that sits on Biscayne Blvd(in Broward County its considered Federal Highway/US 1)that is by the bridge before the Aventura Mall. Pembroke Lakes Mall is off Pines Blvd and Hiatus in Pembroke Pines and acroos the street from that is a Best Buy & Michaels arts & crafts shop. You Also have Pembroke Gardens which is also off Pines Blvd near SW 145th Avenue just right before I-75. Galleria Mall is off Sunrise Blvd & Bayview Drive in Ft Lauderdale Westfield Mall aka Broward Mall is off Broward Blvd & University which is located in Plantation. Coral Square Mall is off Atlantic & University Drive in Coral Springs and ya also have Sawgrass Mall thats off Sunrise Blvd & Flamingo Road thats the biggest mall there is here thats located in Sunrise. FYI: Lauderhill Mall isnt an actual mall its more of a plaza just lettin ya know. Soooo just to some it all up if ya decide to live in Hollywood Id go to Pembroke Lakes or Aventura and if ya choose Lauderdale check out Sawgrass & Broward Mall.

Mike-

Aventura is by far the closest and best large mall with all of the good stores to Hollywood. There is also another separate complex right nearby Aventura on US1 with a Best Buy and several other stores. Also, on I-95 and Stirling Road on the northern side of Hollywood, there is a large complex with many big box stores. I believe another Best Buy is there.

Pembroke Lakes is too far west and would take too long with the traffic lights. It is also not as good of a mall as Aventura. Sawgrass is even further away and is not worth the long drive and crowds unless there is a specific outlet store you want to visit.

When did the Galleria open back up? When we lived there 8 yrs. ago, it was closed? That was such a nice mall.
