My husband and I are planning to relocate from NY. We like the proximity of West Hollywood to both the Boardwalk and downtown Ft. Lauderdale. There is a neighborhood called Emerald Pointe that seems to have very nice homes in our price range and we are wondering if anyone is familiar with this area and has any comments on it. Is it a safe neighborhood?

I'm guessing you're talking about Emerald Point (Emerald Hills) down 40th ave off of Sheridan Street between 46th Ave and Park Road. If it is, it's a good safe neighborhood.....

Neighborhood has 2 grocery stores within 5 mins from E.P. with a number of restaurants (Long Horn, Chilis, Hollywood Ale House, Fridays, Red Lobster, 2 Mexican Restuarants and Chinese Restaurants, a couple of Starbucks close by as well as a number of other eateries. You're about 15 mins to Hollywood beach, 15-20 to Ft. Lauderdale airport.

One of the more underrated areas on this message board. The only question I would have is do you have kids? Not sure how good the schools are there.

Thanks to both of you for your quick reply. Yes, that is the Emerald Point area I was referring to and no, we don't have any children. Mostly I am concerned about the surrounding neighborhood as I see so many negative posts about Hollywood.

Hollywood is a large place and has some sketchy areas and good areas. The area you are specifically talking about is a good area. The sketchy areas are mainly east of I-95 and out west by 441. As you go further South down to Hollywood Blvd there are some sketchy parts west of I-95.

It's one of my favorite neighborhoods in Hollywood. It's one of the safer spots. Emerald Hills has a large Jewish population.
