Default Tamarac Florida

In my search 1000 miles away for a place to live with a low cost of living and housing I have used Sperlings Best Places web site. I looked at the following cities, Tamarac, Cooper City, Sunrise, Deerfield Beach, Stuart, Jupiter and Port St Lucie and discovered that Tamarac is the winner and it is 99.3% non-hispanic. Can anyone dispute these figures. Honestly I am surprised.

Tamarac is very, very small... It is just south of Coral Springs. I grew up in Coral Springs. If you asked me to name restaurants in Tamarac I would say Char-Hut and Krispy Kreme, oh and Mc Donald's....but that said it is mostly condos and retirement communities, so if that is what you are looking for than you found it!

What does Tamarac being 99.3% non - hispanic have anything to do with it as a best place to live ..... I would rather live in Weston hands down over Tamarac .... no comparison ... Weston is at least 50% hispanic and is much more upscale , cleaner and safer .. Tamarac is old grumpy retired people who smell like moth balls , in a older sort of run down area... also no way Tamarac is a better place to live than Cooper City , Stuart or Jupiter .. that is crazy .

Sperlings Best Places for not know their arse from a hole in the ground if it claims Tamarac is better than those cities .

Coral Springs is a heck of a lot nicer and a real town compared to Tamarac .

It also isn't true, Tamarac is 24% Hispanic (according to the 2010 Census). Plenty of Colombians in Tamarac (as well as Jamaicans). Sperlings Best Places website fail. Tamarac is just ok, not great not terrible. Too many retirement communities for me, but maybe that's what the OP is looking for?

Northern Coral Springs ... especially the areas bordering Parkland is a beautiful area with a lot of young people and many things to do .... good luck to you .

Tamarac has some nice parts, but is far from the best place to live down here. Coral Springs, Weston, Sunrise, Cooper City, Davie, Plantation, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, and even...dare I say it... Pompano Beach is "better".

We are a retired couple that have a few hobbies but mainly want to be able to go to the grocery and the normal things. Not looking for entertainment, I like to go fishing and my wife sews and buys and sells antiques. I accept the idea that Tamarac is nothing special but please elaborate on how the other areas are better or perhaps rank the places you list in the order of more desirable. Should I assume that better is also more expensive to live?

As far as quiet for retires, Tamarac is ok. Close to Coral Springs etc. for other activities. A lot depends if you want a condo, house, or rental.

Port St Lucie looks great for single family houses & retires. It's where I'm heading.
