Good Afternoon All,

We are a family with young kids, one has 2 and the other 5. yrs old.

Im doctor, Job will be on Boyton From Tuesday to Thursday 9am to 4pm, and my wife is also a doctor, her job is located on Davie, she will work all week Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm.

We have still have other options "Jobs" but they are more south, to Hollywood and Miami, seems like even in FLL the traffic is masive.

Anyhow, we are looking for waterfront properties communities with access to the intracoastal.

Looking at all of this areas, schools have lower grades (not that good) than the inland ones, but we can consider charter or private schools, although not that expensive as Pinecrest.

I know Boyton is very far from Fort Lauderdale, but we have liked the area of FLL, up to lighthouse point; but havent made that commute yet, maybe will be a disaster

Any idea where to look for houses considering our jobs locations and where will be the best schools for our kids???

Appreciate any help you can give!

God Bless!

RJ

I’d suggest being along the turnpike. You don’t specify budget but I’d start with Parkland, Boca, maybe Coral Springs or Coconut Creek.

Hi, We really appreciate your response..
Budget for the house should be around from 800k to 1.3mm, but we are thinking being on the water, don't know if this is possible with this budget "being on a good, safe area" (Intracoastals). Any thoughts??

You think commute to Boyton will be impossible?

On the water would be nice but it would likely be a difficult commute to Davie (95/595 is tough). If being on the water in a decent area is a must, maybe look into Boca or Lighthouse Point.

You can have a great lake view for $800K+ in Parkland or in Weston, and the best schools!

800K-1.3mm will be a dump you won't want to live in

Lighthouse point is fine, the western neighbor Pompano Beach is rougher. They share the same schools.

Ever heard of Compton, CA? The local joke is "Pompton"

Forget living on any saltwater canals, you will only be able to buy in 50+ year old neighborhoods with very few kids. You will then blow more money on private schools because the public schools in those areas suck. The price point you are at will give you old houses that need work or are tiny breadboxes.

Rent in Parkland or Weston and let the kids attend local public schools. Live in a newer house, nicer amenities with tons of kids. I think the market is way overheated, I would not buy anything right now unless you absolutely steal it.

Join a boat rental club, rent a boat 1 or 2 times a month...........

LOL wut?

Are you talking about California?

There are lots of beautiful homes for $800K in very nice areas. However they may not have an ocean front, and good schools. But are there any dumps with an ocean front?

If you want a great elementary school (your kids are still young, RJ2020), look at the Coral Ridge neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale. Bayview Elementary School is excellent. The problem is there are no good public middle and high schools there. But it may work for you for a while, and then you can move. You could find an amazing townhouse in Coral Ridge for your price range.
