I just moved here in July and I have also found that groceries are just more expensive here. I save a lot of money at Aldi's. There is one in Coral Springs and also one on SR7 and Oakland Park Blvd.

I have been doing what Nolefan34 suggested. I go to Walmart and Aldi's and do most of my shopping then I stop by Publix on the way home.

Are you sure you were in Walmart and not Publix?

Amazing isn't it. Chatty cashiers, pharmacy was great. I had filled a Rx at the University store but when I went back for it their computer was down. Later I found this Walmart and they transferred the Rx. Nice

Did you try the Wal-Mart on the east side on Federal Highway ( US1) and few steps north of Mc Naab ? many eastsiders of Fort Lauderdale, and Pompano beach do their groceries in that store and no complaints at all.

When I lived there we always went to Penn Dutch in Coral Springs and sometimes the older and smaller one in Hollywood right off of 95. They have the BEST prices on meats and produce. People would come with huge coolers and buy meat and ice and take it back to the Keys or the Bahamas with them. The prices are THAT good.

The Walmart Neighborhood Market in Pompano Beach is my favorite Supermarket. I go at least twice a week even if it's for bread and a few item. Their prices on many things is incredibly low. A loaf of french or italian bread is about $170. A quart of half and half is about the same price. I told a friend and he's near Wilton Manors and shops here too. I also love that they have self checkout so you can be in and out quickly. Since it's just a market it's easier because I don't like buying groceries in any Walmart Supercenter.

There is not a lot of great competition like in the northeast where I miss Shoprites low prices and great specials every week.

The cheapest supermarket here is Winn-Dixie followed by Albertson's and then Publix is the most expensive.

As far as the Walmart Supercenters the one in Pompano Beach on the corner of Atlantic and Powerline is nice and it's open 24/7.
