Hey guys, a friend of mine will be getting a job with a territory of WPB, Broward, Boca..Basically Southeast FL without going into Miami. Where would be a central area to look for a house to rent? No kids so schools not important. He would like an upscale area and not an area where its neighbor on top of neighbor. Is coral springs way too west? I'm thinking the area around Ikea but I don't know what that area is "called". Thanks for your help.

My knowledge on places north of Central Broward (vis à vis Plantation, Ft. Lauderdale, and others abeam or up to slightly north of 595) is not great, but it does look like Boca Raton would be a good fit - it's more well located than Coral Springs (generally, depends of the specific commute), has more amenities and stuff to do, also it's definitely more upscale (as it's something he would like).

I'm just wondering if Boca is too north though?? See I'm not sure if he'll be doing like Weston as well but he's getting paid by the mile anyways...

It is a bit too north for SoFL, it's already in PBC. Weston would also fit the bill very well, but then the problem it's that it is way out west. I think it's worthy though. I'd even like to move there (or neighboring SW Ranches, which I prefer) if it wasn't so far away from Miami and even FTL.

Weston and SW Ranches is pretty far and wayyyyyy out west of Palm Beach County...Hell from Hollywood to Boyton on I-95 with no traffic took me at least 30 to 40 min...

Parkland is pretty nice I have a buddy that lives there..

Coral Springs is way west but it does offer easy access to the turnpike or to 869, which travel much faster than I-95 and are more predictable. Parkland near the 869 entrance would be another option.

Ikea is in Sunrise. Your friend would have easy access to the 869 and 75 or to 595 to get to 95. 595 is a mess right now but construction of the reversable commuter lanes is ahead of schedule (amazing!) and scheduled to be done by Spring 2014. That should improve things, though it seems by the time they finish every expansion project, they decide the area has grown more and they go back and do another one. Traffic would flow so much more smoothly if only they'd quit trying to improve things!

That's what I figured as far as being waaayyyy too west. Wonder if there's somewhere in between that's good area? Would that be Parkland?

Also, if anyone could answer this: I know Aventura has a lot of condos. Are there SFH available as well?

Aventura is a nice area, and it's certainly the nicest large city in northern Miami-Dade County. It's very convenient with regard to it's location between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood.

Golden Beach would obviously be the nicest area in northern Dade County, but it's prohibitively expensive, very small in terms of land area, and entirely residential.

However, if you're looking for a single-family home in Aventura, you're not going to have much luck. There are very few single-family homes in Aventura, as most of residences within city limits are high-rise condominium buildings/complexes. Generally, there are always a few few single-family homes on the market in Aventura, but they are usually astronomically expensive.

Most people who are searching for property in Aventura are not searching for single-family homes. If they were, they would be searching for property elsewhere.

Got it. That's what I figured with the housing situation and Aventura.
