I just moved down to Lauderdale from Chicago where Ethiopian food is available and Whole Foods sells Teff Flour, and there is an ethio market to purchase spices and ready-made injera.
I want to know where Ethiopians in the Lauderdale or Miami area get their supplies so I may get them as well.
I would rather not order online, but if I must, what is a reliable source?
I would even go so far as to go to Orlando to get supplies if there is a place that sells them there.
I realize there is an Ethio restaurant there, but they do not sell just barbere or spices. They will sell injera though. But getting the teff and making it myself would be so much easier.
Whole foods in South Florida does not carry teff flour, which is surprising because of the focus on gluten of late.
Thanks for any suggestions or ideas.

Michelle

I order Teff online. It is reasonably cheaper than Bob's Mill. Order a 25LB and it will last you longer.

I have not found an Ethiopian community in South Florida. I have been here for about four months. You are by your own.

There is the yellow green Farmer's Market in Hollywood, Florida. I know there is a young Ethiopian woman that sells Ethiopian food there. I think she might start selling spices there too.

Authentic 1-Day Ethiopian Injera: Gluten-Free 100% Teff Flat Bread - YumUniverse

I am not well traveled so I did not know what this Teff flour was about so I googled it. This is an iron rich flatbread with a slightly or more than slight sour flavor depending on how long you ferment it. You store it with parchment paper between the slices to prevent it from getting soggy. I am on a low carb diet but will try this when I add some carbs back because it seems healthier than loaf bread. Great with a stew..or how about some black currant jam ? Thanks for bringing this up qtpi_girl22. I go to yellow/green mkt in Hollywood and will look for the lady there who may sell Teff.
