Parkland imo is much nicer than Weston. Fist of all coming from the northeast, the family atmoshpere and great catholic school mary help of christian it is new and super academics and kind kids. Heron bay is great but very close lots for the money. I would choose one of the older communities, Landings anything off of Holmburg. shopping is great and sports for the kids. The commute is not that bad and you can be at deerfield beach in less than 20 minutes beautiful beach. My husbands family has lived in Weston since it start, There is the weston country club section nice but overpriced, my niece is in fourth grade her class is so large. Don't get me wrong it is still beautiful but Parkland has open space and horses.

Weston - overpriced? I think that the prices there are very reasonable given that it is meant to be a luxurious, exclusive community. Not everyone is supposed to be able to afford a $700,000 house. Communities like Savannah have more middle class prices.

I think he was talking about "Weston Hills" which he called "Weston Country Club". Well, it's expensive because football players and serious business people build massive custom estates there on large plots of land.

moving to FL
Our family is moving to Florida during the summer months from St. Louis. We have been there several times and my husband is already working in the area. I have set my sights on Parkland due to overcrowding issues I found out about in Weston (Cypress Bay High School).........does anyone know if a rezoning plan is complete?
Our oldest daughter will be a Jr. in High School so I want to make the right decision from the start.
I did like Parkland the last time I was there but plan to visit Weston next week.

Very different from Weston, Coral Springs and Parkland. Less expensive. Less upscale. Higher crime.

Well, for one thing, it's called P ompano Beach. The majority of the city is also run down and crime-ridden compared to the three mentioned cities, though there seems to be a few decent areas out west (near Margate).

We like Coral Springs
We moved to FL in 1994 from Central NJ. Originally lived in Sunrise and moved to Coral Springs in 1998. I work from home, but my husband is "on the road" sales and travels to Miami every day - taking the Sawgrass Expressway and I75. When he calls home at the end of the day, he arrives within an hour.
Coral Springs is a great little city. Great schools, resturants, shopping - University Drive is like the Main Streets up north and you can find just about everything there. That's one of the reasons we like it so much. You also don't have to deal with as much local traffic during the "season" which is a problem closer to the beach.
Parkland is more rural - very few traffic lights, horses and larger lots and more pricey. Weston is mostly gated communities and with the acquisition of Bonaventure, lots of condos. Taking the Sawgrass Expressway, you're only about 10-15 minutes longer into Miami or Ft. Lauderdale than from Weston.
The Heron Bay Community straddles Coral Springs and Parkland. We live just south of there in Wyndham Lakes. It's a nice section of town - close to the highway and less pricey than Heron Bay. It consists of differnt levels of housing from nice rentals, townhomes, and single family homes. It's a planned community.
Come on down.

Reason: added "than from Weston." in paragraph 3

Hi- So which did u decide? My husband, son and I are relocating South from Boca Raton. Our options are Weston or Coral Springs. We essentially want to be closer to family in Pembroke Pines and Cooper City (bu not too close). Weston is beautiful and actially has lots of entertainment available. Very much upcoming. Parkland isnot really an option as I feel it's still to far from my family. What has been your best & worst feedback on Weston & Coral Springs?

My suggestion is to drive to Weston and Coral Springs and decide which you like better. Coral Springs isn't more than another 10 minutes south. Think about Davie and west Miramar too, but I would pick Weston.
