Good morning and Merry Christmas Chilito23,

Thank you for the reply and you asked where I found the listing for affordable rentals?? Craigslist my dear. Just pull it up online you will see. My faith in God will not die and He will make a way to provide the means to make things happen.I found there are thousands of people who lives the christian faith lives in South Florida and they are doing fine. Most of the people who have the negative things to say about South Florida are the ones that simply do not put the Lord first. I know you need CA$H as you put it to live in this world particularly South Florida but who do you think is making the provision to get the CA$H to you?? GOD. I am not giving up my dream to beg your parden. I know you are trying to help and I thank you for that BUT from what I have been reading from others on this website, South Florida needs GOD badly and I am praying that more and more people who thinks like me will come down here and relocate and make a difference for GOD and turn this area around!!! GOD made the heavens and the earth and man(Please Genesis chapter 1 )He sent Jesus to save man(John 3:16) from enternal hell. Sorry I apologize but that is the truth as I see it Chelito23. I will pray for you and continue to pray for South Florida. Thank you. Will wait for your reply.

Merry Christmas, "Wanttodwellinfla08"
I've read your original posting. I must say that your strong sense of faith will help you in your attaining your desire to relocate to S. Fla. I am sure that you have spoke and claim your next destiny to reside down in Greater Ft Lauderdale area. I've not too familiar with S Fla housing market, as I reside in the Central Florida area, but patience & research will be both important in your quest to moving down to FL.

You must be realistic, as some of the posters stated; the rental prices in a decent/diverse area will be awfully high, especially in S. Florida. Orlando in a way mirrors the S. Florida housing market, not as nearly at the extreme level of a 1 bedroom over $1600 a month. But, if you want to live somewhat comfortably in S. Florida, remember you will need stable income & don't forget about the other necessary living expenses that may be required.

Before uprooting your family, must sure an employment offer is on the table. I am not saying that your husband will have any difficulties locating a job in the healthcare industry. As South Florida is blessed with ongoing job openings in that industry. I am not sure if you speak another language, but being bi-lingual (in S. Fla) certainly helps in attracting jobs that might pay more in salary, thus enabling your to be able to afford a desirable place in the Weston or whatever area down there.

I will keep you and your family in prayer

Hello
I can look at both Cleveland (as a current resident) and Broward county (as a former resident) and tell you that Broward county is GREAT compared to Cleveland. There are a few drawbacks (as with any place) but if you and family are able to find a way around these then it will be fine. My family and I had a wonderful time living in Coral Springs. Plenty of parks, tons and tons of activities and recreation for children, very active community, lots of convenient shopping, very diverse, close to other cities, clean, fairly safe--etc etc. I could go on and on. I also must say there are a lot of really good church options. We loved Redeeming Word Christian Center--which was only 10 minutes from Coral Springs. We also visited Mt. Bethel--close to downtown Ft. Lauderdale. And attended activities at Coral Springs Baptist church. By the way--we are African American also and felt very very welcome wherever we went.
Overall I think it is a much much better environment to raise children in than Cleveland. In my opinion Cleveland just gets worse. The only reason we moved back was for family reasons but will be soon returning back to Coral Springs in the near future.
Now the drawbacks--as many have pointed out---the rent and home prices are in my opinion astronomical--probably coming in a close third to NYC and Cali. That has to be something you would be willing to forego--in Cleveland you get much much more in terms of space for a home or apartment for the price than you would in South Florida.
Also--the weather is not for everyone. It did not bother us when we were there--but we LOVE warm tropical weather. I did hear other new comers complain about the heat and humidity but it was really no big deal to me. Also--even the job market may be decent in my opinion the salaries in south florida are considerably lower than many other major metropolitan areas. These are the trade offs.
But overall I think Broward is a great place to live and raise a family.

954Mom and all the previous posters. Thank you for the great and honest info. I too am looking into that area.

Some more questions:

How far away is Coral Springs from the beach?

Are there areas @ Coral Springs or within Coral Springs that should be avoided?

What are some other nice, safe, affordable areas?

Thank you for any replies in advance.

1. About 15-20 minutes, pushing towards 30 minutes in the far western portions
2. There are some scuzzy apartments/duplexes along Sample Rd especially east of University Drive. Near Coral Springs, stay out of Pompano Beach at night, although it's not really that close.
3. What's "affordable?". Other safe areas nearby, however, include Tamarac, Margate and Coconut Creek.

It's fine during the day, just run down between the Turnpike and Dixie Highway when you go north of Atlantic Blvd. Take precautions like locking your car door. It's very distant from the worst I have seen (which believe it or not is in Palm Beach County), but not a place you want to live or to be at 1 in the morning and for sure the worst in Broward.

Smile Rentals - Broward

With the rental market being soft, don't be afraid to offer - you might check out some 2/2 condos in Deerfield Beach just west of Federal. (US 1).

If you do a $1000 per month, a lot more would open up.
