We are mid 30's professional couple with 18 months old child, thinking of buying a condo either in Emerald Hills or Hillcrest areas. An condo complex we are looking at in Emerald Hills is GrandView located North 46th Ave. I know that both Emerald Hills and Hillcrest are safe areas, from what I heard, but my question is will we fit in in Grandview condo complex age wise? Isn't it the condo complex with mostly retired people? If I'm wrong in this assumption perhaps someone who lives(d) in there can let me know.
Also any other details on Grandview, Emerald Hills and Hillcrest would be appreciated

For safety and quality of neighborhood and possibly investment wise Grandview would be the way to go. I cannot give you any info beyond that, I hope someone else can.

I lived in Hillcrest for a year....just last year.
The reason I lasted a year is because Hillcrest is very "retirement" oriented.
I'm a 30 y/o professional and while it's safe.... it's also very.... meh.

Lots of retired people from up north mixed in with people that have moved from south america within the last 10 years....

I did not find it anything to write home about....yet it wasn't awful...it was very blah.... just kind of like neither here nor there. It seemed old to me.... very 60s and 70s ers type buildings.

If you're in your 30s I strongly advise against those areas in Hollywood that you're looking at as its mostly old (and I mean old) people that live in them. As a young couple with a baby you may want to be in an area that is a bit more lively and where there are more people around your age. What is your budget?

JohnD_fla what areas would you suggest? If we decided to rent instead we are looking at monthly rent of 1500 to 1700 for 2 bdr.
TIA
