I need a point A to point B car that works with A/C. I'm looking to buy a car outright as it would't be smart to try and finance anything without a job. I really need a car like now. I have enough to afford something around $1500 maybe even $1000. Suggestions? Used car dealers along state rd 7? Private owners?
How do I do this? Where do I start?

Autotrader.com, I just checked and there are quite a few, most with high mileage but THIS ONE showed up with low miles, not sure if it is a mistake or not.

Thank you kindly for the link. Autotrader.com seems like a website that gathers what you want locally all in one place. Yep I saw the car, the mileage is amazing and it's ugly lol but I like the price and I also am seeing better looking cars in my price range. I appreciate the website info. This helps! I've noticed some have carfax's, and some don't. Should I only look at the vehicles with a car fax report?

It is better if you get one with a carfax if you can but at the price of lower priced cars, not all will have them. There has been some flooding a number of times over the years, so a car that was never flooded would probably be better to buy, therefore one with a carfax would be better.

The issue is, if I buy it privately, how is it guaranteed that the car will run? How do I avoid buying a lemon? At least with a dealer, there's a chance for some kind of warranty or something...

I sold my old car for $2000 to a coworkers nephew that recently came to the us to live. Can you tell all your coworkers, friends, neighbors, etc that you are looking? There really is no guarantee it's not a lemon, but if you buy from someone you know, the risk seems to be less.
