We've finally managed to get transferred to Florida! Now where to start?!

What are the best affordable neighborhoods in Fort Lauderdale?

One of us will be working in Chula Vista. We are mid 30's with three awesome dogs that will want to get to know a local dog park. No kids.

Interests: Biking to fun spots, local restaurants, good grocery store (big cooks), local businesses in general, beach volleyball, scuba diving, dog park. We are not bar types or late nighters.

Wants: Single family home with a fenced yard, gas cooking (heard that's hard to find), 2 bed/2 bath, smaller homes are fine. Our rental range may vary, based on if I find a job, too, initially. So, anywhere from 1,300-1,900/month may apply to our situation.

Questions: If we live in South Ft Laud - chula vista, melrose park, boulevard gardens, etc - are there viable, exciting businesses to bike to and support?

We currently live in the country's best city without a beach. It's very dog friendly. We're very excited to finally have the beach and I'm hoping it's a dog friendly community, too!

Thanks for the help!
Leslie

That price range & 3 dogs are going to be huge problem for what you are looking for. But others with more advice will chime in.

As Loribell wrote, 3 dogs and what you wish to pay may be a problem, limiting you to certain areas, Davie being one that it might work in and that I found some in but phone calls and personal visits will be needed to first see if they will allow 3 dogs and then a visit to see if the area will fit your needs. Below are some I pulled up in your price range, good luck, I hope someone else has a better answer. I am not a realtor, I just use yellowkey to find places for myself, friends and others.

HERE is one in Chula Vista but it says up to 2 pets and I suspect most places will feel that way unless your dogs are tiny.

Thanks for your replies. Thank you to Mr. Lee, I hadn't heard of yellowkey and it was very helpful to have found that site.

Thanks to my diligence, I have been contacted by a homeowner in Victoria Park that doesn't mind three dogs and that two of them are pit mixes. It's a small property, but that's okay with us. It will be a good starting point for us while we get to know the area and look to buy.

I'm posting this for others, if you have a situation that might limit you to most, be proactive and put your situation out there. If it works for someone, they'll find you!
