I think from the parts of Cooper City that are the closest to I-75, you will have more traffic and a number of lights (I would say you will need 15 minutes to get to I-75)...
I wonder if it would be better to take Flamingo South all the way to Palmetto...
I have to commute from CC to Hialeah every day with a stop in Pembroke Pines. Depending on the exact times you have to travel, Flamingo/67th to the Palmetto can be ok. If you have to travel through school zone times it is a bear. 75 between Griffin and the Palmetto usually isn't that bad, the Palmetto itself is the big issue. When you get down to it, living in Cooper City/Weston/Pines isn't going to make much of a difference in travel time because the real bulk of it is common to any of those locations.

Ultimately, if you are going to be making that drive you might as well take commute out of the equation and worry about other factors because the drive is going to suck regardless.

I'm not a big Dade fan, but the OP may want to look around at options a little closer to Blue Lagoon if commute is an issue. If it wasn't for the schools, Miami Springs would be a good fit. I'd even be inclined to try the mid-beach area or Key Biscayne if it fit the budget.

I go from Hollywood, very near Cooper City, to Coral Gables every day. I make my drive in a little under an hour each day. I recommend a traffic app first. I also need to know the time you go.

The fastest way Ive found is that most times, its faster to avoid the highways. I take 27th/University all the way down most days and its 15-20 minutes faster than getting stuck on the highway.

Alex - yes it is the Blue Lagoon complex.

Main priority is safety. I realize South Florida varies by mile! I have elementary school aged kids, so schools are important but I would be ok with private schooling. Neighborhood safety though is my primary concern.
As long as it is a good neighborhood you will be fine regarding crime whether is Broward or Miami-Dade. Check these colored maps, Live in the darkest shade of green you can afford...

Also take into account the local culture. Don't forget Miami culturally is very latino.

What app do you use and what is the exact route that you take?

I use Waze for my commute. It's a very helpful app since it uses user's input, location and moving speed in order to recommend you alternate routes. Also, Waze will give you alters on police, hazards, etc.
