Weston basically feels like a planned resort community. It's not like Boca, nor is it like Coral Gables. It's more like the former than the latter. The community, for the most part, was built within the past 20 years, and thus feels fresh and new. The look is homogeneous, but most of the city consists of planned communities. Driving on the major streets doesn't feel like driving on a major street at all; the streets are free of congestion, there is shopping and restaurants splattered throughout the city, and you can expect a barrier of well maintained tropical landscaping on both sides of you and in the median of the street you are driving on. Neighborhoods consist of newer, Florida-Spanish style tract homes and have a lush, clean, but cookie-cutter look to them. The city is abundant in parks. We also have a fake "Town center", which kind of brings in a sense of community with local-oriented events. The population is about 40% White, 40% Latino, about 5-10% Black and 5+% Asian or other. Just about the entire community is spotless. It's one of the cleanest cities I have seen for it's size.
Is weston anything like celebration or Baldwin park in Orlando?

Just trying to picture the place in my head.

To answer your question simply; no. Think more "resort community" than "new town concept".

Parkland comes to mind with me as well.
I personally like the Parkland / Coconut Creek / Coral Springs area more than the Davie area. Just for personal preference reasons, not because I think one is better than the other.

I work in Boca and live in Coral Springs. The commute to Boca is quick taking the Sawgrass Expressway. Miami isn't that far of a drive either. Upon moving here 2 years ago, I was told the schools in Coral Springs are the best in Broward. I don't think you'll get that community feel renting in a complex though. Renters tend to keep to themselves. Everything you need is very convenient in Coral Springs.

That has not been true for quite a few years, although it does has a reputation for good schools.

I second Coral Springs. It is close to everything via the Sawgrass, and the schools are consistently rated amongst the best in the state. You might want to check out Wyndham Lakes or Heron Bay, both of which are just west of Coral Ridge Drive, very close to the Sawgrass.

Default coral springs

I live in Eagle Trace, a gated community in Coral Springs. Our area might be worth checking out. It takes me half hour to get to Boca (Town Center Mall). The drive to the airport depends on the traffic to 595 but it is generally in the 35 minute range. There are some decent deals to be had in homes and I am sure you can get good rentals.

Default Coral Springs, a great place to live!

I currently live in Coral Springs, not too far from Parkland or Boca. This is a great, family oriented city with great schools and not as expensive as Parkland or Boca. It has been named on of the best places to live in the US. You should come and see for yourself, I think you'll be impressed.
