i grew up in ft lauderdale sunrise to be exact. when i graduated i moved to orlando for school. I have lived here for 4 yrs now and when it comes down to it i do like it here. UCF is a good school i have a huge apartment that i love and a job that pays 15 an hour. the down side is i have not really met anyone (friends or otherwise) here. Its my fault i guess im just too shy.
on the other hand my parents, sister and grandparents all live in sunrise. I can get a nice place with my younger sister, and i plan on going to UM for graduate school (in 2 yrs). i have many old friends down there and lets be honest i have met someone. I was suppose to move back last year but i postponed, and now my lease is ending so i have to choose again. However i cant deny there is a part of me that wants to move for the relationship. it seems like a good idea to go back but it seems like i wont make as much as i do up here with as little experience as i have and the fact that i am in school. the cost of living is much more down there and there is a huge part of me that is scarred that if i move back ill get stuck in the poor lifestyle that i grew up around. basically i need some unbiased advice |

Like in Orlando, prices are coming down here because everything is hyper-inflated. From what I have gathered, the cost of living is almost the same these days in Orlando. Gas, groceries, rent, etc are pretty similar. You can rent an ok 1 bedroom in Sunrise for 800 a month or less, assuming you stay out of those condo conversion complexes (which are not ok and over priced).
And, if you have someone special in your life down here, and you can afford the (honestly, not that much more) expense, go for it. Helps that this is generally a much better place to live than Orlando too (lived there). But come with a job rounded up. If you can't find one, don't go for it! |

Times have changed and the lifesytle in the tri-county area has gotten quite expensive VERY quickly. Think about it. Write down a list of the pros and cons before you make a decision. Because you do get less for your money down here and it really depends on what's important to you right now and what you need $$$$ to build on for your future. Food for thought...Hope this helps.

I would stay in Orlando, it seems the further south, the more expensive. Creating relationships in Orlando is very frustrating as well because everyone is coming and going so fast. I make friends very easily here but within a few months or a year everyone moves somewhere else, mostly due to the low salaries and transient nature here. If you have family and a decent job lined up than move south. I don't think you can really win in this situation.

When you say moving to Sunrise,I hope your meaning west of university? As everyone mentioned the cost of living is the big differnce between Orlando and Broward. My opinion try Pembroke pines or Miramar. That way your closer to the U,and also you can drive back home to Sunrise in 20 min or so.jmo
