Generally anywhere in south Florida the lot size is inversely proportional to the violent crime rate. You are much safer in the "rural" areas than in cities when the economy collapses.

Default Left in 75....

I was born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale. I left in 1975 and used to go back often but haven't been there in 12 years. I can't believe what I am reading here. Sounds like it has gotten really bad. I grew up in an area called Twin Lakes off of Prospect Rd. between 9th Ave. and 15 Ave. and was wondering how that neighborhood is. What are the prices of houses in there? I attended NE High school and that was a preety bad school back then as far as drugs. When my parents first bought the house in Twin Lakes we were so far west at that time that we were considered to be in the county but out of city limits. I can remember walking through the woods to get to the beach. It was a great place to grow up then. We would roam all over the place on our bikes and in cars and never had to worry about any of the things that are being talked about now...Times change.

Default Bad Areas

Basically, Lauderhill is a bad area, Pompano Beach is a bad area, Ft. Lauderdale has a lot of bad areas, Melrose Park, Oakland Park, Sistrunk, etc. If your in Hollywood stay away from US-1 thats were most bad areas are in Hollywood, and definitely stay away from East Miramar, alot of areas east of University are pretty bad too, ex. Miramar. Don't Go South of Pembroke Road either. Good areas are Pembroke Pines, Weston, Davie, Cooper City, Thats basically what i can think of right now.....

Not all of Lauderhill, Pompano, or Melrose Park are bad, you make it sound like it is.

i''m surprised no one's mentioned Collier City, which is unincorporated, unless you're lumping it in with the rest of Pompano. Hookers roaming Hammondville, crack slingers on MLk and NW 27th. Not exactly your little slice of heaven.

There's an MLK in Broward too??? The one in Miami is the pits as well. "I have a dream...........that there will be crack dealers on every corner..."

Default Sounds very racial here

I rarely chime in but you people are very racially prejudiced. I live in Sunrise by Lauderhill, and believe me it is fine over here. I am a white american, my neighbors are Jamaicans and Hispanics. Some of there yards are impeccable some look like hell. Mine is middle of the road. There children say hello Mister or Ma'am just like they are supposed to. The crime in Broward leans toward drugs. Where there are drug problems, there are crime problems. Even Coral Springs has a bad area. By the way there is an MLK in just about every city in the US. The MLK in Denver you don't a sniff at a house for anything less than $800K.
Lauderhill and Lauderdale Lakes share an area called "Deepside" That is a bad area, even still one of the starters on the Boyd Andersen HS got accepted to Princeton. And he lives in the middle of all the sh*t going on around him. Stay away from the racial attacks if you please.

Thank you
