Cool The Hoods

Perhaps we should feel good that these residents are honest enough to tell the truth about their "hood". I don't care how they say it, if you want to be safe, you will learn the language of the message. So to "nanokiller", "Borwardboi" and "BornAndRaised" keep the info or "411" coming, I hear you. And I will spread the word about Pompano and Deerfield, Thank you.

I guess it depends what your used to... if you grow up in an area, you are a part of it. You are comfortable there, but to outsiders it might be seen as a "bad" area. The hood is the hood, there are plenty of people looking to prey on the unsuspecting... unless you live there or know someone who does, are there on "business", or you have to drive through to get somewhere else...don't go. Because there are people who get robbed, F'd up, and or killed just for being where they shouldn't be. And that is why certain areas are labled "bad" by certain types of people.

Just my 2 cents... as PC as possible.

Just because an area is poor or black doesn't neccesarily mean it's unsafe. There are several all-black neighborhoods in Broward county that are absolutely beautiful and for the most part safe. I've drived through areas at night that most people would avoid and NEVER had any problems. Yes, I've seen drug deals going on. Yes, I've seen male and female prostitutes, but I beleive that if you don't interact with this element and just drive through, you won't have any problems.

Imperial Point is changing quickly. Too many foreclosures have many houses vacant, with knee high grass, and vandalism. There is also a lot of drug activity in that area now.

Royal Palm Estates is in Oakland Park and it is not run-down at all. Most of Oakland Park is quite nice, except for a few iffy spots. I'd take Oakland Park over Fort Lauderdale in a minute.

Ehh, Royal Palm Estates is nice but not that large. I think the rest of it is very spotty, block by block and you have a lot of the porno store and "pain clinic" sleaze along the main roads. Good sized homeless population in the area too. There is some good mixed in there but Oakland Park is very weird area to me, a transient element too I think. I don't think it has a true "ghetto" like the dead central Broward area, but it's just strange. I would take it however over most of Pompano west of US1. I don't think it's different enough from most of Ft. Lauderdale west of US1 to say whether I would take it over Oakland Park or not.
