Riverwalk - there isn't much there anymore.
What about beaches, any recommendations?

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea - a beautiful beach at the end of Commercial Blvd with shops and restaurants nearby, plus a fishing pier. Great beach overall.

The beach in Pompano Beach is quite nice too.

Delray Beach

If you really want a nature beach away from condos - Red Reef Beach in Boca Raton. Plus across the street from the beach they have the nice Gumbo Limbo park.

Fort Lauderdale beach is very nice, and big.

Hollywood Beach has lots to do, a very long broadwalk where you can walk, jog, rollerblade, bike... you can also rent bikes there.

Also there is Sunny Isles - amazing luxurious condo buildings, and just next to Sunny Isles there is Haulover Beach. If you don't want to skinny dip, stay on the southern half of Haulover.

Hollywood Beach is probably the best for a 3 day weekend. There are some lower cost properties on the beach. The broadwalk (Ruski, it's not a boardwalk), is outstanding with a lot to do.
