How is Fort Lauderdale a sty? I take it from your username that you're in LE and I'd like to hear more of your take on this area.

Sorry, I only sporadically post. I don't like the area because I see how South Florida cities are. Crime is all over but it gets worse in certain places like Fort Lauderdale. I do not hide my bias, I like the suburbs and after years of working down here my position has only been re-affirmed. No place is perfect, obviously, it can happen anywhere, and it does, but if you want to be realistic:

Crime, lots of crime.

Downtown is dying.

Riverwalk is dead.

Bums. Lots of bums.

Sure there are some nice parts here and there but given just how large the City of Fort Lauderdale is you'd expect at least *some* nicer areas. As a whole though, most of it is pretty awful in my opinion. I don't see the appeal of 1980s beach trash though like many do on this board, which is what Fort Lauderdale Beach feels like too me.. a bad 80s or 90s TV show..

I'd much rather go to someplace like Mizner Park, places like that which are much more likely to be kept neat, clean, riff-raff and bum free.
