Hello. We need to relocate to the Fort Lauderdale (close to Weston) area due to an hopefully upcoming heart transplant. We are looking for a short term rental, probably 3-4 months. It would also need to be furnished and hopefully accept a dog.

I did look at extended stay hotels and corporate suites but they were over 3000 a month. At least from what I could find. The daily rates seem reasonable except when you add that up for 30 days.

So any areas to look at, or specific condo/apartment communities would be great.

Thank you so much.

Did you do a google check of the Bonaventure section of Weston? Lots of timeshares, villas, apartment & townhomes for rent. But if you find one that is furnished & accepts dogs you still may not be happy with the price.

Is the transplant being done at Cleveland Clinic? If so, did you check with the patient ombudsman to see if they keep a list of properties? Use every resource you can.

I used to live in Weston & still come down once a month or so for business. I primarily stay at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Weston as they allow dogs for a fee. I would even call them & see what, if anything, they could provide.

Did you check Davie? There is a Woodspring Suite near the expressway which is not far from Weston. I might even call Nova Southestern University, which is nearby, & see if they keep a list of properties for their visiting professors or new hires looking for a temporary place before they permanently settle.

Other cities near Weston are Pembroke Pines & Miramar. Good luck to you.

Thank you for the reply. I will check with the places you listed. I will check with the hospital again. The 1st person I asked about hotels just said there was a hospital discount at a few hotels but they were for a free breakfast or shuttle to the clinic. But I will ask about short term rental.

Great ideas! Thank you

I searched the MLS and found a couple.

A 2/2 in Weston on Lakeview for $2k/month; a 3/2 on PineIsland another 3/2 near Pine Island for $2400/month; and a 2/2 on Hollybrook for $2400 in Pembroke Pines. They all say short leases and pets allowed but would need to verify its available for the exact dates you are looking for.

The extended stay idea isn't bad but recovering from a major surgery in a small hotel room doesn't seem very relaxing/enjoyable.

If these don't work, maybe try to get a good deal on sites like HomeAway on a long term/monthly rental.
