I know of the Water Taxi and the Jungle Queen. I like riding around in boats, but I want to see something a little different. The Jungle Queen I see now has 90 minute cruises that don't stop at their little park, what route do they take - how far up do they go? Any other suggestions (P.S. Single guy, but not looking for hookups, just a peaceful boat ride).

Rent a boat for a couple hours and go where you'd like.

I attended company functions on The Gallant Lady a couple of times. Gorgeous yacht. One was an evening cruise. I think it went as far as north as Boca/Deerfield. We saw all the beautiful homes and people waved to us from other boats and the bars. Maybe google Gallant Lady Fort Lauderdale & see if that might be something that would interest you?

The Gallant Lady is a private yacht that does NOT rent out to day cruisers. It is a corporate yacht used for functions of the company that owns it and for charities that they fund. Not easy to get on.

On a different note, I remember when there was no speed limit on the intracoastal. They used to hold unlimited boat races up and down the canal. That was exciting!

Thanks. I wasn't aware of that about The Gallant Lady. Were the speed limits enacted as protection for manatees and small crafts? That is what I remember.

It was for several reasons. Seawall damage, boat collisions, manatees, noise. I think part of it was that some people don't want to see others having fun.

I'd be lucky enough to afford renting a row boat. And while I would love to take a private boat (even a small center console) I don't think I have the skills to pilot one, especially through the canals with all the other boats.

I googled "cruising Ft Lauderdale". What a mistake. Only got a bunch of gay night club links.

Googled "boat cruising Ft Lauderdale" and got:

Cruisin' Tikis Floating Tiki Bars Available for Rent in Fort Lauderdale | New Times Broward-Palm Beach

Fort Lauderdale Riverfront Cruises | Sightseeing Boat Tour

Their second boat is in for inspection so they didn't have the 90 minute cruise. But apparently it only goes up to the performing arts center and back. I ended up doing the water taxi instead.
