Hollywood would be your best bet, it will still be a challenging commute but not nearly as bad as Fort Lauderdale and above.

Welp I got the job!

Moving in 3 weeks!

I stayed at a hotel in dania beach and left this morning at 8am to get there by 9:30. I got there at 8:33. There was literally no traffic on 95 south. None. Then leaving at 4:30 I drove up to Wilton manors and that will 47 minutes. Again. No traffic on 95 north. The express lanes were clear. The only traffic I hit was local Miami lakes traffic. So. I don't really feel like traffic is going to be an issue anymore, which is awesome. Not I have SO many places to explore. I'm going to just do an extended stay for a month while I figure out exactly where I want to sign a lease

What day were you driving on 95 when, at 4:30 pm, you hit no traffic? Inquiring minds would like to know...

Welcome to Florida, MWBlondie; my grandfather uprooted my family from NYC more than 50 years to move to this state and he always described it as "a paradise." I'm glad he made the move.

As for your commute experience, I have 2 caveats for you--1. You have not driven during snowbird season (generally Thanksgiving to Easter/Passover) and 2. Although there are summer school sessions, it's not as busy as during the rest of the year with students and/or parents driving/dropping off kids at school.

You're going to rent, which is good, so you'll get s feel for the commute and the area. I say this as someone who used to live in SFLA for several decades & now visit the area about once a month to see clients. I can tell a big difference between summer versus non-summer traffic. No surprise to me; I commuted all over from Weston to parts of Broward and Palm Beach County and that was my experience when I lived here.

So good luck with the new job and the move. You've gotten some good advice & I know you'll find a good fit--again, you are wise to rent at first.

I will honestly believe it when I see 95 with no traffic at 4:30 pm....Unless it was a Saturday or Sunday, neither of which count and even on those days it can get pretty bad.

ETA: I saw you said it was a Monday. You mean you were on 95 at 4:30 pm on a Monday, the beginning of rush hour and you encountered no traffic? I highly doubt it.

I'm sure what the OP meant was that the traffic was nothing compared to all the hype she'd heard about it/what she pictured it would be like.
It's all relative.

Maybe I'm just that lucky.
