Moving to Wilton Manors and wondering how "walkable" the town is?
Does Wilton have an area I could live where I could walk to a major supermarket, parks, library, lots of shops, coffee houses, restaurants, etc.? In other words, if a person became "too old to drive" could they survive by walking in Wilton Manors? I've always lived in busy neighborhoods in Chicago and NYC. Thanks in advance. |

No. It's not. the only walkable community in Florida is South Beach.

Not in the least. There is not such place in Broward County.

Wow. That's bad. So Wilton Manors doesn't have a sort of "main area" where the shops and restaurants are located?

Thank you for sending the link. I appreciate it.
So if I understand, the "vision" conflicts with the reality? Can someone clarify who know the area. thanks in advance. |

You cannot walk everywhere in Wilton Manors. They are trying to make Wilton Manors that type of area, but its not there yet.

Yes, it has a road, Wilton Drive, that runs in the middle of it and has some shops and restaurants along its side. I hardly call it a downtown. Wilton Manors is not its own town. it is simply a neighborhood in FTL. It has some really run down areas, hence the fact that the elementary school is not very good, and some really nice roads along the river and the canals. Notice that I said "roads", not neighborhoods. We lived on one of those roads, 17th terrace. We loved it, we would go back in a second, the neighbors, mainly gay couples and old folks, were very nice. But there is not a town there. You won't find anything that can be called a town center you can walk around in Broward County, except the very FTL downtown along the river: but, again, it is just a matter of a few roads.

Thank you for all of the good information. I appreciate it. It does sound like just a bunch of "roads". I wonder why so many are flocking to this area.
