As the title asks, is it now "mandatory" that when someone(a new owner) buys an existing house in Ft. Lauderdale, they must install a post mounted mailbox at the edge of the street? (versus the original/traditional house box) ...Thanx...

Depends on the neighborhood.....usually the more affluent ones keep the tradition.

My first house had that original next to the front door. I cut a slot in the garage instead and never had to worry about mail being stolen or about strangers noticing it piling up after a few days away.
