The same logic applies - if we begin to severely restrict alcohol across the board, eventually drunk driving will go down to almost 0(look at the ME countries). Is that the price we're willing to take?

Every day, multiple innocent people die at the hands of a drunk driver. Imagine if the media covered their stories everyday. It would be nonstop coverage.

Now that you mention it, alcohol should also be severely curtailed. And treated like the drug it is.

The public defender assigned to the shooter says he is sad and remorseful.

https://www.bostonglobe.com/news/nat...TMI/story.html

This woman has the toughest job in the world. I admire her. Someone has to defend this monster, for him to have a fair trial, and she got stuck with the job. And she's got kids of her own, and lives in the area. Atticus Finch at least got stuck with defending an innocent man. I pray that no idiot gets the idea that she should be pilloried for doing her job, to the best of her ability, in defending the client that she was assigned by our legal system.

I just took a look at the mug shot of the shooter. He looks as if he has fetal alcohol syndrome. Small head, thin upper lip, flat philtrum. And the story of him and his bio brother having been adopted makes me think likely Eastern Europe adoption (fits with time frame - Russia, Roumania maybe. Many, many of the kids adopted from Eastern Europe had fetal alcohol syndrome, since alcoholism is so widespread there.

That could be, but we have a loving wonderful member of our extended family with fetal alcohol syndrome, and he is a loving person who would never perpetuate this kind of inexcusable evil against others.

We are sick as a society and have been for quite awhile, and it's getting worse and worse. THAT'S what we need to look at, acknowledge, and examine, and that's a really tough thing to figure out. You can't legislate away depravity.

Kid was born 9-24-98 making him 19. Keep in mind there are thousands of 18 yr olds in the armed forces shooting guns to protect your freedom. That is ok though right?

I believe I have read that he lived with a friend in a trailer park in Lantana. The friend attended Stoneman Douglas. How is that possible? Isn't Lantana in Palm Beach?

The public defender, a nice lady, called the shooter "he is a broken child" on television.
Good grief.
Take him out and hang him behind the courthouse. We shoot rabid dogs endangering people on the street, and that guy is way worse than any animal.
"Broken child". The way we treat our terrorist is sickening.

There is depravity in every single society, every single country.

But in other countries, you can't buy military grade assault weapons that will take out dozens of people in minutes.

If you want to stand a chance against multiple thugs (who will get their hands on weapons like this no matter what), you would wish for a weapon that could take them all out in minutes. No?
