The body part is believed to be that of a missing woman who disappeared while walking her dogs at the Silver Lakes Rotary Nature Park. She was identified as 47-year-old Shizuka Matsuki.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Rob Klepper said evidence from the necropsy indicates that the woman was bitten by the 12-foot, 6-inch gator.

So sad.
I can’t tell you how many people, new to Florida, I’ve warned to stay away from lakes because of this, and they’ve all rolled their eyes at me.
My heart goes out to her family.

Yikes! Very sad for that lady.

I've always liked Florida and even considered relocating to the Miami area a few years ago.

Stories like this make me glad I stayed in "earthquake" country (So.Calif.). Those pre-historic beasts scare the sh&t out of me. Noooo thank you.

What I don't get is what the heck happened? I mean she didn't go swimming or something like that? I guess people in the area had been feeding the gator. Then this lady goes by the lake with her dogs and boom the gator thinks he sees a meal. Best not to go near murky water bodies in Fla.

My guess is she tried to protect the dog she was walking and the gator attacked her instead.

One of the dogs was found with a fresh wound, but Matsuki was missing.

I think this is the first incident since the little boy was killed at Disney in 2016.

I stay out of the nature parks in South Florida, gators freak me out.

It wasn't a nature park in the way I would think of one. It was right in the middle of a city. Right behind the Florida Turnpike and behind the Seminole Hollywood Hard Rock Casino.

There are about 30 homes that have back yards that are right behind that small lake.

One of the dogs had a wound so I would guess the dog got grabbed and she went in to get the dog and lost her life instead.

They found the arm, then positively ID'd it was her through a tattoo. I was thinking how many gators are swimming around with a human arm in them!

The dogs were pit bulls and they were no match for the gator.

Yeah I guess it does seem silly but they have to rule out that anyone else was killed by the gator too.

But it's not like a bunch of people showed up to the hospital missing an arm.
