Does Hollywood have a historical area like sailboat bend? One that is near to the downtown, near to river or waterway and has charm?
If your not familiar with sailboat bend here are some examples ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hollywood Lakes. The homes drift more towards Spanish Mission style however. It's sandwiched between the intercoastal and US1 and ranges from multimillion dollar homes to small apartment buildings for 800 a month, however as a whole it's more well kept and upscale than Sailboat Bend. Here, CD has a picture

Hollywood Lakes is beautiful.... one of the nicest suburban areas in Broward County. It is not cookie-cutter - has character!

how would I get there from broward mall? Also, is this place historic? I should mention I am more interested in historic than upscale. Something with charm (for photo taking) |

Getting there is easy. Just take I-95/Turnpike to Hollywood Blvd and go east. Just east of the circle on Hollywood Blvd takes you through there. I encourage you to drive on the side streets to the south side of the circle, or split right from the circle and take Harrison St. down and explore. |

So I went to Hollywood and took pictures this past weekend to the North and South Lake neighborhoods (also known as Hollywood Lakes collectively) I also went to the downtown. It is VERY impressive and centrally located between central and downtown broward and Miami. It is definitely worth a look for anyone thinking of moving to Broward or relocating with in broward. They also have a train track through the downtown It is the same train tracks that will eventually house a commuter rail that runs through most of the downtowns along the east cost of Florida (from lake worth all the way down to Miami). Also Hollywood is building florida first transit community. What this means is, they are building a village of sorts that is with in a block or so of the tri rail. It is being built to promote mass transit use. Atlanta already has one and it has been a huge success. Hollywood seems to be on the come up.
