Thieves Break Pride Center Door for $10. (Fort Lauderdale, Wilton Manors: apartment complex, rent, high crime)

Seems that not even being located in an expensive area like Wilton Manors makes for security in high crime Broward County.


This week, two thieves broke one of the glass front entrance doors at the Pride Center, the Gay and Lesbian community center, located at 2040 North Dixie Highway in Wilton Manors, to get to the money in the Lucite plastic donation box on the front reception desk.


They were caught on camera and took the $10. that was in the donation box. The right hand door is currently boarded up with layers of plywood until the glass that was in the door can be replaced.

Its on Dixie highway.......when is that ever been considered a good neighborhood?

The homes in the surrounding areas are never listed below $300,000. and studio apartments at the newly opened Metropolitan apartment complex start at about $1,200. a month so I wouldn't call that section of Dixie Highway a low rent district.

The Pride Center is the local Gay Community Center for the Fort Lauderdale area.

There's a flea market presently held there the first Saturday of every month and there are several meetings held there on a regular basis for those attending support groups attempting to recover from alcoholism, drug abuse, sexual addiction, eating disorders and the like.
