Are the areas west of University predominately white?

Not all. A few are but a few areas east of University are too. The racial demographics are about the same on both sides but the socioeconomic status changes. Actually the primary difference is that there tends to be more Hispanics west of University.

Depending on the neighborhood. For example, Cooper City and Davie are predominately white; and Pembroke Pines, Miramar and Weston are very diversified.

Well, minor quibble on semantics, Jacob. I suspect people could be interchanging racial diversity and ethnic diversity too casually here.
By "white" I am going to guess that the OP really meant to say Anglo. As we know from the US census, about half of the Hispano/Latino population is Caucasian race as well. So, in a strict linguistic sense, Weston is likely actually pretty "white" (Caucasian). For what its worth....... |

There are blacks moving out here and quite a few Asian Indians. I also seem to see more and more active Muslims every day, whom I believe are considered "white".
And on Jacobs part, Pembroke Pines has a lot of blacks and Asians and so does Miramar. And so does Sunrise and Coral Springs. Not many Asians in Plantation or Tamarac but plenty of blacks. Yeah, I said "racial" I just noticed that lol. Last edited by compelled to reply; 04-07-2008 at 05:57 PM.. |

Point taken and additional info appreciated, compelled.
Would it be fair to generalize something along these lines.....if you're really looking for Anglo/White population predominance, one should look to the west coast (Naples/Bradenton) or to the north (Melbourne and up)? |

Anyways, pretty much everything west of University is an overwhelmingly "white" neighborhood. However, don't let "white" fool you into thinking "non-diverse" because in a typical "white" neighborhood you will find Jews, Italians, Colombians, Brazilians, Cubans, and Anglos. I don't think anything west of University is majority non-white until you get to Miramar, where I believe the University Drive area is predominately black. |

Pembroke Pines and Sunrise are. Coral Springs nowadays is close. However whites the the dominant group in most of the areas west of University, but there aren't as many "solid majorities". East is more segregated.

I look at it this way......I aspire to buy the house next to Wayne Huizenga and I don't care where my neighbors are originally from.
