30 Sec Flat is on a distinguished road
Default Any advice is greatly appreciated

Hello,

I am a single, young professional with an advanced degree in sciencies who just accepted a job offer from a Fortune 300 company operating in Miami. The company is located in not so attractive location though (Perrine, FL) and I am not sure I want to live in that area or Miami as a whole.

I was looking for something in West Davie, Pembroke Pines, or maybe weston that could make my commute a little easier. For now I am looking for 1bad/1bath arrangement. I want to live in quiet, secure neighborhood close to shops, malls, and restaurants. I will be doing a lot of studying and researching for the company.

Anything you guys could suggest for me? Hidden apartment gems or so? Please let me know or PM me if you are serious.

Thank you.

It really would be an impossible commute from Broward to Perrine. In fact, I'd suggest you look at Key Largo before Broward, but you'd still be talking at least 45 minutes to an hour in each direction, although there'd be much less traffic from the Keys.

I agree with fauve.

The commute would be terrible from SW Broward to Perrine ( probably about 1 hour with light traffic taking the I-75 and Turnpike ). Try to live in the good neighborhoods of Miami ( like Coral Gables, Pinecrest, Brickell,... )

- Weston: very good neighborhood, safe, but the most expansive ( about $1,100-$1,500 for a 1br/1ba monthly ) and with the worst commute.

- West Pembroke Pines: good neighborhood, safe, probably the least expansive ( about $900-$1,375 ) and with the best commute.

- West Davie: good neighborhood, safe, probably priced between Weston and Pines, and with a commute so bad as Weston.

All these three neighborhoods are good, but the commute to Perrine is terrible. About shopping, Pembroke Pines ( but is a relatively congested neighborhood ) have much more than Davie and Weston. But, in my opinion, the best neighborhood is Weston.

Yes ! You want Downtown Dadeland. Very trendy, all new area that is right off US and across from Dadeland Mall. Lot's of excellent restaurants around the area...all within walking distance. Plus the metro-rail is right there ! ...and very close to Perrine. They have beautiful high end skyscrapers. UM is close by. Sunset place is another very hip and trendy place to shop, eat and have fun. That is north of Downtown dadeland at SW 62st (sunsent drive). Believe me....you cannot go wrong with that area. Forget Weston and the other areas you mentioned...you WILL get bored and the drive will be awfull. Downtown dadeland area is off SW 88st. Perrine is around 160st south to around 200 St. I would highly recommend this area for you....you will love it. Check out these links and read more about the different condos availlable in the downtown dadeland area. I would personally recommend Metropolis since I had a friend that lived in it and I would visit her frequently. Very upscale and nice. Very trendy area around it.

I totally agree.

I had lived for a while in Downtown Dadeland, is a really nice condominium, and is close to everything ( Dadeland Mall,... ). The basic cable TV and high-speed internet is free there.

Live in (east) Cutler Bay, Kendall, South Miami, or Coral Gables. There are lots of nice places near Perrine; no need to drive way up to Broward to find a nice, safe neighborhood.

You can get a reasonably priced 1/1 apartment in the Village at the Falls, a nice complex located on 92 Ave. right near 136 St. and The Falls, which is a beautiful, open air shopping center. That area has a lot of shopping and dining and is very safe. Plus, it would be a quick commute (in reverse direction of traffic) down US1 to Perrine.
