Nova is academically accredited by the same accrediting institution in the southeastern region, Commission of Southern Colleges. I'm not too particulary sure about its graduate programs, as I'm a potential undergradate transfer for the fall 08' semester. However, Nova's selectivity rating, all around, is considered moderately difficult/selective, according to U.S. News and & World Report and other agencies alike. Nova is quite expensive, however. But, the education is unmatched!
The school is technically located in Davie, where it is surrounded by a consortium of other colleges, such as FAU and BCC. However, if anyone knows about Broward County, like myself, you are like a stone throw away from the beautiful Fort Lauderdale beach, about 25-30 mins from Miami Beach, and about the same amount of time from West Palm Beach. It's the best location you could possibly imagine. Believe me, you will not be bored here. The campus itself is very modern and well equipped. Believe it or not, there's a bar on campus, which, I thought, no university would ever have.

A have a few friends that went to Nova for law school and medical. It is not big at all but does have great programs. Nova is in a great place and several professionals in the Broward and Palm Beach County went to Nova.
You do have the problem sometimes of getting out of the college party feel. I would recommend living in Plantation, Sunrise, or Weston and commuting to Nova (short 10-15 minute drive). Its a little easier living and better area then that around Nova (NSU)! Its a little more run down around there.

I think that's a stretch unless you are talking about east of Davie Rd. The area around Nova is basically the same as Plantation/Sunrise especially west of Davie Rd. Right across the way is Pine Island Ridge, very convenient, safe, and affordable. There are a few smaller condo/villa complexes that are also as nice as anything in Plantation/Sunrise in that price category. And remember, Plantation and Sunrise both have small run down areas east of University Dr. Heck, part of Sunrise is in the Deepside.

Yeah. I was referring specifically to the areas where a Nova student would rent. I had friends that lived in those apartments and I have been to some of those parties. It was loud and annoying on most nights. These are the apartment complexes right around Nova.
I knew a couple that lived north of Nova (Broward and University) and it was much nicer. As always the areas west (Weston, Sunrise, Plantation) have affordable apartments and townhouses that are student friendly and not as crazy as around Nova.

The surrounding area is typical of any university location. Nova pretty much covers one side of the street along with the Miami Dolphins' training stadium. On the other side, there's a UF environmental research facility. And surrounding all of this are apartment complexes and other academic institutions. This area is very safe. As far as what goes on inside the apartment complexes, that might be a different story. If you're living on campus, the security is very tight there, so there's little chance of something going wrong.
"Kevinkagy," if you're hispanic and willing to pay $36,000 per year to get the same education as you would obtain at FIU, FAU, and NSU, then by all means, go there. The same goes for FIU--the school is not very diverse. I'm not too sure about Barry, but I know that one of its locations is not suited in a very habitable area.
If you were to live off-campus in area such as Weston, as one commenter suggested, you might as well buy a house, because that's the kind of money you would be spending just for a studio apartment, if they even have those in that exclusive neighborhood.
